POLICE have formally identified two teenagers who were tragically killed in a late-night crash in the New Forest.

Lily Catherine Butterfield-Godwin and Abbey Rogers, both 19, died after the collision on Gosport Lane, Lyndhurst at one minute after midnight on Saturday, December 13.

The pair had been enjoying a night out at the Stag Hotel in the village's High Street moments before the crash.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, and a 19-year old female passenger are both at Southampton General Hospital being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Family, friends and members of the community paid tribute to the two girls, who were described as “angels”.

Police are still appealing for witnesses following the incident and anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote Operation Marn.
