POLICE are investigating a spate of ram raids in a Hampshire town and a nearby village.
Two shops in New Milton were targeted in the early hours of the same day, with vehicles being driven into the front of Ferndale Stores in Ferndale Road and the Tesco petrol filling station off Caird Avenue.
But the world-be thieves fled empty-handed in both incidents.
It follows a similar incident at RS Smart Repairs in Silver Street, Hordle, last week, when a neighbour foiled a ram raid by throwing a brick at their vehicle as it sped away.
The people involved in that incident are also thought to have fled empty-handed.
A police spokesman said officers were making enquiries in the area and checking CCTV footage in case the culprits were caught on camera.
