POLICE want to speak to this man after an elderly woman was conned out of hundreds of pounds.

The man knocked on a door in Hillside Road, Pennington, and asked the woman if she would like him to do garden work for her.

He did about an hour's worth of work, then charged the woman £460, which she handed over in cash.

The incident happened between 9am and midday on November 11 and officers are keen to speak to anyone who knows what happened.

Detective Constable David Wheeler, said: “This man charged an excessive amount of money for the very small amount of work that he actually did.

"The man targeted this vulnerable woman and charged her an unreasonable amount of money.

"He did not provide her with a receipt, contract or any details about who he was or who he worked for.

“The offence he has committed is fraud by false representation, meaning that he vastly over charged the victim knowing that the work should’ve been a lot cheaper.

“I would urge anyone with information about who this man might be, to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information on the incident can call police on 101 and quote reference number 44160430434.
