DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a man was threatened with a knife and robbed in the street.

The 29-year-old said he was hit over the back of the head after stopping in a shop doorway in Romsey to light a cigarette.

He handed over £55 when his attacker brandished a knife before fleeing the scene in Latimer Walk towards Waitrose.

The robber is described as white, 6ft, thin, in his mid-20s and unshaven. He wore a dark jacket and trousers and a black cap.
