A SOUTHAMPTON mum filmed performing a sex act in a lift said the stress of it being aired on television brought on premature labour.

The woman, who was drunk in the CCTV footage, had a privacy complaint rejected after it was shown on Channel 4 last year.

Her face and that of the man she was with were blurred for the footage on Caught on Camera, which aired on June 9 last year.

The programme documented the work done by CCTV camera operators in Southampton, and the footage from lift came from a council-owned tower block in the city.

Despite the blurring, the woman - known only as Ms K in the Ofcom report - claimed her loved ones still recognised her and the stress brought on premature labour.

But regulator Ofcom ruled that the public interest outweighed her expectation of privacy.

The clip was filmed in a Southampton lift and during the show, a CCTV operator remarked that people didn't care about the cameras.

In the unedited footage viewed by Ofcom, Ms K is seen going to the toilet in the lift before performing the sex act on the man.

A spokesperson for Ofcom said: “Following a careful investigation of a privacy complaint, Ofcom has not upheld the complaint that her privacy had been infringed in this documentary about the role of CCTV cameras in the UK.

“We found the public interest in broadcasting footage showing the role of CCTV cameras in monitoring anti-social behaviour outweighed the complainant's expectation of privacy and her privacy was not unwarrantably infringed in the show.”
