FIREFIGHTERS in Southampton were last night called out to two cases of people falling asleep while leaving their oven on.
The first was in Wolseley Road and firefighters from Redbridge rushed to the scene after a neighbour heard a smoke alarm go off around 11pm.
When the resident did not answer the fire crew broke down the door to gain entry and removed a smoking pan and turned off the oven.
They then extracted the smoke that had slowly filled the home while the occupant was sleeping with a fan.
The second incident occurred in Bernard Street around 1am and teams from St Mary’s and Hightown fire stations rushed to the scene where a man had gone to bed after leaving a pan on the stove.
Firefighters woke the resident after knocking on the door and removed the smoke using a fan.
