A DAILY Echo investigation has found stories posted on the website which describe characters taking their own life.

Although supposedly fictional work some accounts are labelled as “true accounts”.

The website sets out in its terms and conditions that no one under the age of 13 should be able to set up an account.

When searching for any words including self-harm or suicide a message appears which offers advice lines and websites that can support people who are posting about those topics.

The following are some excerpts from ‘stories’ published on the website.

  • “Her eyes shut, tears flow down her pale face as she kicks the stool from underneath her. She falls to the ground. Her face went red as she ran out of air, her hands clenched up. There was no pain no hurting just blood everywhere I stood there crying.”
  • “I had never heard of the phrase self harm before I started Bitterne Park but from them (sic) on it became part of the daily conversation”
  • “After a few months self harm seemed to be mentioned and that was scary, I wanted to help i really did but I just wasn’t good at it, I didn’t understand why they did it, they wouldn’t tell me”
  • "They started self harming or feeling suicidal and I really didn’t know what to do, I decided I would help them out!"
  • “At this point my life was getting worse, everything going down hill! But I told myself I’d be fine, my feelings didn’t matter and my problems were pointless.”
  • “One day it got worse that they cut half my hair off and I walked home in shame everybody staring at me…that’s when I started one by one, slash, slash, slash.”
