A NEW micropub in Southampton has been successful in a bid to extend its opening hours.

Overdraft Craft Ale Bar opened on the site of a former NatWest bank in Shirley Road last year.

When it first opened the venue was open everyday from 5pm to 10pm, and earlier this year the owners applied to the city council to extend it.

They are now set to open from noon to 11pm Sunday to Wednesday, noon to 11.30pm on Thursdays and noon to midnight Friday and Saturday.

The 65 sq m venue was opened by Amrik Rai, who said he was inspired by micropubs and breweries in the United States, and is being managed on a day-to-day basis by his son Mikha.

With capacity for 50 people, the pub has about 15 different ales on rotation.
