Unionists call to rethink cuts

Anti-cuts: TUSC candidate Perry McMillan Anti-cuts: TUSC candidate Perry McMillan

MEMBERS of the Southampton Trade Unionists & Socialists Against Cuts (TUSC) party will urge city councillors to rethink cuts when they meet to agree a budget on Wednesday.

TUSC candidate Perry McMillan, anti-cuts campaigner Gavin Marsh and Andrew Howe from Youth Fight will make a deputation to the meeting to oppose cuts of up to £14m proposed this year by ruling Conservatives.

Mr McMillan, a former Labour councillor, said: "Since I was deselected for opposing cuts in 2003 we have had a New Labour run council, a Lib Dem council, a Lib Lab council and finally a Tory run council. All have made cuts.

“If others are not prepared to fight the cuts then stand aside for those who will.”

He said TUSC would be fielding candidates in every ward in local elections in May in support of striking trade unions, in opposition to all cuts, and for a budget to “meet the needs of the many not the millionaires”.

Tories, New Labour and LibDems may be known to us by different names but in action they are all the same and share three common denominators
.
All three are racing each other to become vanguard of right of Thatcher
.
All of their councillors in Civic Centre are committed to cutting services and destroying jobs
.
They have lost touch with the aspirations of ordinary people have become virtual puppets of overpaid and under worked pen pushers, who rather than doing their jobs properly keep on advising so called ‘Councillors’ how to look after themselves; bit of ‘Yes Minister’ scenario
.
So it is nice to note that people who really care about jobs of ordinary workers and public services have got together under the umbrella of TUSC. Having known people involved in TUSC delegation for many years I can fully confirm their sincerity for saving services, their ability to analyse the real issues and providing honest answers in how to solve those problems without towing the line of fat cats on the top of full time administration
.
Although I hope common sense free councillors will act upon the suggestions which will be put forward by TUSC, but I do not think the arrogant lot will do that
.
Only way to get message across is for those of us who are opposed to cuts should support TUSC candidates in May elections, otherwise if we keep on voting for the main three parties of the right then be prepared to keep on getting more of the same kicks in teeth from them.

Unfortunately for the TUSC the current incarnation of the Labour party has rumbled the fact that they are a looney bunch who they are embarrassed to be associated with.

But on the bright side, at least we live in a democracy where you can actually waste your vote on them. It's up to you.

One word - 'Greece'.

Greece has the same problems as us Shoong, All partys are right wing where Europe and the rest of the world is being Americanise, you can have a pick off different partys, but you will get the same sort of policy (multi partys one policy) and that is right wing policy, the greek people have woken up to this fact sooner than most others around the world, lastest countrys to join the revolt are Romania, Bulgaria and Hungry more countrys will join in the revolt.

You can have
Torys Vicious:= Cuts
Liberal Democrat:- Progressive Cuts

I just hope that the candidates the TUSC are fielding are wealthy enough to throw away their deposits because even the hardest line Labour party supporters would not dream of voting for the Loony left that is the TUSC.
Also I hope they are more erudite than our friend Southy and dont rely on quotes from Google like he does.

Spoken just like some one who do not know a thing about politics geoff51, hint there are no deposits in a council election, and as Googling go's I am one of the lest amount of people that will Google I prefer to get information from books a lot comes from the Reference part of a Library where the infor is check and recheck unlike Google info most is put up by people like your self.
better to vote for the TUSC than the fascist right wing who deals with lies and false propaganda for people to buy in to.

If there is no deposit system there should be to stop oddballs and loony parties such as yours from wasting voters time.
Also you still cant string an understandable post together, so I suggest if your party wants to get any votes they need to dump you to gain a modicum of chance to get any votes.

you lack the wisedom it takes, we are not oddballs or loony we leave that to your kind who's greed as over taken them and only think about them selfs and no one else, your kind are scared because people like us will bring an end to your greed and selfisfishness in the me,me,me culture and start to share with others and show them the truth about right wing politics.
And we have not been dump as you put it, we are brand new party, a working class party for the majority and not the few, unlike all the other partys, and being a brand new party will take a bit of time to build up the base votes, and from there will work on building more votes.
And just for your interest the TUSC is all ready being talk about as the fourth major political party, The media is talking about us on the same par as the Lib/Dem, and we know right wing Labour is now worried about us.

I don't agree with TUSC policies, however, I do admire their enthusiasm, they make politics more interesting and who knows in May their maybe a shock or two.
That is democracy and it is great.

Also geoff51 last local elections (2011) I got the second highest result for the TUSC in Southampton.
So keeping me they stand a more than a modicum chance.

That you may have but if i remember correctly the BNP got more votes in Harefield ward than the TUSC!
Hardly riveting results Southy and not exactly good portents for May

Geoff51...(i think) Southy ran in Redbridge...not Harefield...

Give him credit, he was only 32 votes behind the Lib Dems...not bad considering he has no hope in winning....ever...

As it was such a memorable victory for Comrade Southy my momory may be playing tricks but I am sure the BNP got more votes than the TUSC in May maybe not in the same ward.
Hardly a succesful result
