A BIKER killed in a head-on horror crash on a Hampshire road at the weekend has today been named by police.

Bernard Ryder, 50, from Waltham Crescent, Southampton was riding his red Honda CBR 900 motorcycle on the A35 towards Lyndhurst at 4.17pm on Saturday when he came off his bike close to Station Road and the Holmsley Tea Rooms, at Holmsley, and collided with a white Mercedes Vito van travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the van, a 36-year-old man from Leatherhead, Surrey, was shaken but uninjured.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw Mr Ryder just prior to it, to contact Sgt Andy Lynch at the Road Death Investigation Team at Eastleigh on 101, quoting Operation Larch.
