A SOUTHAMPTON teenager repeatedly hit his best friend over the head with a bottle because of a perceived slight over his attitude to his sister.

Frazer Talbot, who had been drinking and had not taken medication to control his bipolar disorder, fell out with Liam Chandler after they left Daisy Dip, on Bassett’s flower estate, at about 1am.

Talbot, 19, who had “self-medicated” on cannabis, punched Mr Chandler in the face and hit him with a bottle, which eventually smashed. The victim suffered a cut and bruising.

Talbot then walked into the road, fists raised and shouting obscenities. A taxi driver stopped his car and the teenager slammed his fists on the bonnet and punched a window.

Talbot, of Bursledon Road, Sholing, admitted causing actual bodily harm and using threatening words or behaviour.

He received a six-month suspended sentence, coupled with 12 months’ supervision and a four-month curfew. He was also told to pay his friend £150 compensation.

Why do we need people like this roaming the streets at 1am in the morning bottling people and smashing up cars?
There is only one place he should be. If this was the USA he would get about 5 years in chains for that.

A normal night on the flower estate.
'self medicated with cannabis'. What will these defence lawyers come up with next.

So he sat there while this tool repeatedly smashed him in the head with a bottle?

So he had not taken his medication, he had taken illegal drugs (yes I know there is a question about the strength, but you cannot self medicate if you do not know the strength), then he had topped it off with alcohol. OK he falls out with his friend, but did the taxi look at his sister in a menacing way so that this upstanding person had to defend her honour. What a complete plonker.

If he has not been taking his medication to manage his mood swings perhaps he should be detained without limit so that he cannot pose an ongoing risk to others. Perhaps we were luck he only had a bottle to beat his friend over the head with and not something heavier or sharper!

I know this case and the echo hasn't printed things correctly ... He hasnt even got a sister! and unfortunately the correct thing is his mate did get hit ..he was not self medicating as stated but that was something that was said about a past situation and then used .. He was only recently diagnosed .. Infact was extremely hard to come to terms with .. But obviously needs medication as we know...he was extremely sorry and there freindship remains intact. Mental health is still a taboo subject and nobody wants to feel intimidated or scared but as Frazer could not remember anything of that night he could not argue his case. I can see from the report how angry it can make every one feel from reading the Echo report and will also know that the statements people have written have no clue to the situation and that's fair enough . But luckily Liam and Frazer are still good friends and Frazer has taken responsibility for his actions and his actions speak. As his mother I can speak for my self as a parent and say I battled many years for help for Frazer and no one listened . I agree that he needed and needs help and thank god Liam wasn't severely hurt. That aside .. Let's support mental health and support trying to sort out the lives of young people searching for help- thank you for reading. And sorry it upset soapy people reading it .. As it certainly upset me.

hardly a friend! Even if you are drunk are high on drugs if that friend really meant alot to you then you wouldnt beat them up. You's help them if they were getting into trouble and if you cant handle them you would ring the police and run away, people nowa days cant handle a wine gum dropped in a bucket of water
