WINCHESTER residents are set to do their bit to help those affected by two devastating earthquakes in Nepal.
More than eight million people have been affected since the 7.8 magnitude struck western Nepal on April 25, followed by a 7.3 magnitude quake near Mount Everest on Tuesday (May 12).
The Unite for Nepal event will see choir groups, local singers and Nepali dancers come together, with traditional Nepali food and drink and handmade crafts on sale.
All of the proceeds will go to helping those affected in Nepal by providing shelter, food and medication.
The event is supported by the British Gurkha Community Winchester, Winchester City Council, Community First Winchester (formally WACA), Nepalese Community Winchester and Nepalese Ladies Group Winchester.
Unite for Nepal is at Winchester Guildhall on Sunday May 17 from 3pm-6pm.
Tickets cost £5 sold on the door or in advance by emailing eventfornepal.booking@winchester.gov.uk.
