TWO men were injured when a group of motorists assaulted them in a road rage attack on a Hampshire motorway.

Officers from Hampshire police are looking for three men who got out onto the carriageway on the M3 when traffic had stopped and attacked a pair of men in a Ford Transit van.

The two victims, aged 26 and 28, were travelling in the inside lane in heavy traffic on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions seven and six at about 2pm on Saturday August 22.

A white-coloured BMW 3 or 5 series flashed its lights and beeped its horn before the van moved into the middle lane to let the car pass.

Traffic then slowed to a standstill and the occupants of the BMW got out of the car and were joined on the carriageway by people travelling in a silver VW Golf.

The group then approached the van and smashed the windscreen and passenger window, assaulting both men inside the van and leaving them with minor injuries.

When the traffic started moving again the group left and both cars drove off.

The victims described the first man in the white BMW as Asian but spoke with an English accent, in his mid thirties, about 6ft 1ins and wearing a pink t-shirt, blue jeans, glasses and with short cropped hair.

The second man in the white BMW was described as Asian but spoke with an English accent, in his late twenties or early thirties, about 5ft 8ins, with long frizzy hair and wearing a white vest.

The third man in the silver VW Golf was described as Asian but spoke with an English accent, in his sixties, had a bushy beard, and wearing grey clothing and a grey hat.

Police would like to hear from a driver who was in a vehicle from the Czech Republic, as it is believed this driver filmed the incident with his mobile phone.
