A MUM and her two young children had a lucky escape in a dramatic crash on the motorway.

She was driving northbound on the M3 between junctions 10 and nine when she lost control which led to the car rolling over.

It was found on its side when emergency services got to the scene and it is thought she went up the embankment before rolling down onto the hard shoulder.

A policeman on a motorbike who was first to the scene managed to help the children get out through the back window and their mum was helped out the same way by firefighters.

They were checked over by paramedics following the crash at around 8pm last night.

Crews from Winchester and Eastleigh attended.

• This story was corrected at 1.44pm to reflect two children were in the car rather than three, as had been originally reported by the emergency services.
