A HAMPSHIRE community centre has moved quickly to reassure fears it will close when it loses its Sure Start service.
Bosses at the Carroll Centre in Winchester say they are open for business despite the closure of children's centres in the district.
A total of 43 centres are closing across Hampshire, leaving just 11 district hubs as part of a Hampshire County Council plans to save £8.5m.
A statement by the Carroll Centre read:“Due to the recent news about the closure of Children’s Centres across Hampshire we would like to reassure everyone that the Carroll Centre is not closing.
“The Children’s Centre is only one of service that the centre offers. The Carroll Centre will continue to provide a fantastic range of service for a wide cross-section of the community.
“These include our Nursery, After-School Care, Youth Service and Family and Community Activities with more exciting opportunities to come in 2017.”
