A MAN has been arrested for possession of so-called “legal highs” with intent to supply.
The 49-year-old was arrested in Winchester on suspicion of possession of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) with intent to supply.
It comes after the Psychoactive Substances Act was brought in earlier this month, classifying the so-called legal highs as NPS.
Police in Winchester closed down a shop selling the substances in Stockbridge Road last year, while it has also been revealed that the subjects were a "huge concern" at Winchester Prison.
The Government introduced a blanket ban on so-called legal highs earlier this year in May.
The legislation criminalises the production, distribution, sale and supply of psychoactive substances. Offenders face up to seven years in prison.
If you witness any drug dealing or suspicious behaviour relating to the distribution of NPS you can call police on 101.
