27 November - 20 December
CHRISTMAS MARKET
Back for the 4th year and bigger and better than ever before. The historic Inner Close will be transformed with more than 90 pretty wooden chalets beautifully decorated and oozing with delightful Christmas goodies. Within the Christmas Market you will find a festive Food Court, British Crafts Village, Father, Nativity Scene and Christmas Grotto.
Open from 10am - 6pm Sunday - Wednesday & 10am - 8pm Thursday - Saturday. Opening times for the grotto will differ, please visit www.winchesterchristmasmarket.co.uk for details.

27 November - 3 January
ICE RINK
Nestling amongst the Christmas Market (until 20 December) and at the foot of the Cathedral, this large real open-air ice rink couldn't be in a more wonderful setting. Perfect for families, groups, celebrations and office parties! The adjoining Ice Rink Café has received an Alpine-style make-over offering homemade soups, mountain casseroles, apple strudel, gateaux, mulled wine and hot chocolate - a great treat after an hour's skate! Sessions last for 1 hour which includes time to change into skates.

PAPER LANTERN PROCESSION
To celebrate the opening of the Christmas Market and Ice Rink, hundreds of people are expected to attend this spectacular parade. Starting at the Great Hall this dazzling array of coloured lanterns and proud followers will make their way through the High Street to the Cathedral. In order to take part you will need to create your own paper lantern by attending one of our workshops (7 & 21 November at Winchester Cathedral.

28 November - 24 December
CHRISTMAS & TWILIGHT TOWER TOURS
Join our experienced Tower Guides and venture up into the Cathedral's impressive roof spaces and to the top of the tower. Spectacular views across the city and over the Cathedral's Christmas Market (until 20 December) and Ice Rink. Certainly not for the faint-hearted, these tours include a large number of steps (a good way to burn off a few mince pies!) and some narrow walkways.
Christmas Tour tickets: £8.50 includes a cup of tea/coffee and mince pie in the Cathedral Café. Twilight Tour tickets: £13.50 includes mulled wine and mince pie in the historic Undercroft.

THE LORD LIEUTENANT'S CAROL CONCERT

MICHAEL MORPURGO: ON ANGEL WINGS
Telling the engaging story of how a shepherd in Bethlehem became the first visitor to the stable on Christmas night. On Angel Wings will be narrated by Michael Morpurgo, with Juliet Stevenson, a range of musicians, and farm animals! Performed to great acclaim in Exeter and St Paul's Cathedrals, Michael Morpurgo comes to Winchester this Christmas with something that people of all ages will enjoy.

A new afternoon addition to the Cathedral's Christmas offering, and a wonderful opportunity to hear the girl choristers. Admission is free but a retiring collection will be taken.

A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
Marking the final day of the Christmas Market, shoppers can enjoy music and readings, sung by the Cathedral Choir.

21 - 23rd December at 12.30pm
THE CHRISTMAS STORY
Hear the Christmas Story told in a variety of ways using props and puppetry to bring the story to life. For families. Duration: 15 minutes. Cathedral entry fees apply.

22 December from 10am - 12pm
CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

CONCERT: BRITTEN'S CEREMONY OF CAROLS

Tickets for the Carol Service on 19 December will be available from the Cathedral Box Office from 9 November. This Service will have a large number of reserved seats. The Carol Services on 21 and 22 December will be non-ticketed, and there will be few reserved seats. Doors will open at 5.15 pm each night
