POLICE have launched an investigation after a child was hit by a car near a Southampton school this morning.
The 10-year-old boy was in Welbeck Avenue, Highfield, near Portswood Primary School when he was hit by a Jaguar.
Officers were called out at around 9am and were on the scene for just over half-an-hour.
South Central Ambulance Service also attended and treated the boy for minor injuries.
A spokeswoman said: "We sent one ambulance crew and one rapid response vehicle to the scene and treated the boy for lower leg injuries.
"He has been taken to Southampton General Hospital for further treatment."
A spokesman for Hampshire police confirmed no arrests have been made at this time.
