A SOUTHAMPTON scientist has hit out at the new Jurassic World film for showing unrealistic dinosaurs.
University of Southampton zoologist Darren Naish is one of many experts to criticise the summer blockbuster, claiming famous dinosaurs like the tyrannosaurus rex and velociraptor are inaccurate because they would have had feather, according to recent research.
Mr Naish said Jurassic World was a “dumb monster movie” compared to the original Jurassic Park.
He told the Sunday Times: “The original film showed dinosaurs that were not simply roaring, scaly monsters but were active, social, bird-like animals with dynamic bodies.
“Now, Jurassic World is simply a dumb monster movie and there has been a deliberate effort to make its animals look different from the way we think they should.”
But director Colin Trevorrow has hit back at criticism saying the film is a “sci-fi” movie and not a documentary.
