RECORDS have been beaten at Bitterne Park School, as pupils overtook all the previous bests.
Ninety per cent of the 275 Year 11 children achieved five good grades, with 65 per cent gaining five including English and maths – both significant improvements on 2009.
Deputy head teacher Gordon Smith said: “We’ve had nine years in a row of improvement and these are our best ever results with our biggest ever year group.
“It’s a great relief for everyone concerned because, although we know the commitment that has been put in by all the staff and pupils, you’re still never sure if you’ve done everything you can, so we’re going to have one hell of a celebration over the next week.”
