Try piping hot air from the council chamber; enough to keep the whole city going!

I fully support the incinerator, it's a fantastic facility but how about some of that cheap electricity for Marchwood residents or using the money generated to build local cycle paths?? Afterall, we are the ones who have to live with the lorries bringing the waste in, and risk our lives if we want to cycle on Jacobs Gutter Lane.

Run it close enough to the bed of the River Test and we could be enjoying ready cooked Salmon.

Theres a pipeline already under the water from near this plant & the tories were looking at pumping this into the east of the city.
I suggested a similar thing with waste hot water from the new(proposed) Bio Mass generator.
I'm happy Labour's going ahead with another Tory idea but surely they should give credit to the last Tory council for looking into it & doing the ground work for them?

This idea is no better than burning coal, oil or gas.

The idea go's back even before the Torys was in power, Councillor Pat Bear was a Councilor when I first the posibilitys of it. It be a waste of time piping using warm water or warm air has would need more engery to pump it around, but to produce Electric would be a lot better and tap into the national grid.
It would not be green, but you would be using an engery source that would be wasted.

Why do we have to have a bloody horrendous eyesore in the docks for a power station. Burn the wood in the incinerator at Marchwood.

I've tried to tell you that that sc*m tenant wrecked my house & it cost me far more to fix than I made in rent & I lost at least 3 times the amount collected in rents when I had to sell at a loss.

Paramjit sorry if I stole your thunder but it wouldn't bother me who finished this project(started it) but at least give praise for a vision & commend it as worthwhile to proceed to the person who first suggested it.
If Labour do this I will congratulate them & hope they can do the same thing with the waste hot water from the Bio Mass if it goes ahead.
What's getting me is the fact that 25 years ago I was grieving & trusted a letting agent which proved wrong thing to do but even on this article Labour supporters are saying i live off tax payers money & i'm down the pub I hardly ever drink yet I can't seem to get it through their thick bigoted heads.

Sadly so far loosehead's post has answered one of the questions I raised i.e. Dear Leader appear to be doing his usual thingy, not telling the whole truth, that this scheme is not Dear Leader's brain child but was already there under dust. So I should be forgiven for thinking that 'Humphries' in Civic Centre may have taught him to play this pipe dream for securing favourable headlines.

Environment is most serious issue, all three main Parties are guilty of exploiting it for political opportunism. David Cameron by promising green actions to husky dogs and Prescott released lot of hot air on same subject but then driving petrol guzzling Jags.

Greens are the only party who are serious on this subject. Or we have some individuals like Alan Whitehead but will NuLabour let him become their spokesperson on environment? They have not done so far.

Paramjit sorry if I stole your thunder but it wouldn't bother me who finished this project(started it) but at least give praise for a vision & commend it as worthwhile to proceed to the person who first suggested it.

Yes I have noticed some people latching on to your past as a landlord. I have never liked landlords since my student days, due to bad experiences. But yes I have sympathy with those landlords who come across some really bad tenants. So I can understand what you may have gone through. That type of person makes the life of most decent people looking for accommodation difficult.

While I may have cracked light hearted jokes about others social tastes, seriously I never blame anybody for their personal tastes. I'm no expert on cars, but would it not be better to take the car to a Mechanic and ask them?

They can tell you what's wrong for free and give you a quote to fix it perhaps?

When the wood burner comes online North Solent area will have three large chimney smells, hopefully none will come my way at the same time. I can smell Fawley in Southampton occsionally but will all the combined smoke stacks at roughly the same altitude be a possible cause for smog?

Sounds a positive move, and much better to use 'existing' resources to produce heat instead of chopping down yet more trees! instead of government money being chucked at schemes which aren't sustainable have dubious 'green' credentials. Glad to hear about the solar panels too, HCC at least are ahead on that. We should see more organisations like the hospital, university, etc investing in long-term energy saving as well as individual household responsibility.

A Question of you & other posters if you were offered Solar Panels for free by the Government would you have them?
I have al;ready accepted & I'm saving (hopefully) on my Electricity bills

Skin contact Southern Energy Solutions before the end of the month as the Tariff changes in Sept. & they're not doing it after that time.
You lease the roof space to them & if any damage happens through the panels they repair the damage.
they help protect the panels extending their lives you get free electric in day light hours or at least a reduced cost ( depends on strength of light) they make money from the electricity you don't use
