TWO people were treated in hospital after Hampshire firefighters were called to a chemical incident on Monday.
Initially it was thought to be an illegal drugs lab, but on arrival it was found that cleaners at Sandford Caravan Park, north of Wareham, in Dorset, had accidentally mixed chemicals which produced harmful chlorine gas.
A crew of five from Winchester fire station attended for five hours with the Detection Identification and Monitoring vehicle, which specialises in dealing with hazardous substances.
Crew manager Nick Mills said: “It was just a mistake on the cleaner’s part. We used the equipment to test the chemical.
“Two cleaners were taken to hospital but discharged shortly afterwards.”
