A LONG-STANDING former councillor is set to become an Alderman of Southampton.
Peter Baillie stood down as a city councillor before last week's elections, having represented Bitterne Park since 2010.
He had served as cabinet member for children's services, and then housing and regeneration under Conservative administrations at the council until 2012.
He is now set to be named as an alderman, which is a ceremonial role marking the service of past councillors and other city residents, at a meeting of the council on Wednesday (Weds, May 20).
