AN investigation is underway after a police speed camera van was involved in collision with a car at Nursling.

The incident happened near the M271 slip road exit of the Romsey Golf Course roundabout on the A3057.

A 32-year-old Romsey woman who was driving a Volkswagen Golf was taken to hospital for a check-up after complaining of back pain following the accident.

Her two-year-old son, who was passenger in the car, was also taken to Southampton General for a check-up. It's understood, the woman's car was heading towards the M271 when the collision happened shortly before 12.45pm on Sunday.

The police vehicle, a Volkswagen Transporter van was travelling in the same direction and the male driver escaped injury.

A police spokesman said: “A full investigation in now underway into what happened. It would appear the police van was travelling behind the car.”
