TRAIN services have been suspended in Hampshire this morning due to icy conditions.

South West Trains say delays of up to an hour could be seen between Southampton and Portsmouth due to the problems on the line between St Denys and Fareham stations.

Services between Haslemere and Portsmouth Harbour were suspended until shortly after 9am.

But disruptions are set to continue until around noon.

A South West Trains spokesman said: “Trains are now on the move on both lines however there are still extensive delays and this will continue through the morning. A problem with a level crossing between Liss and Petersfield was causing further delay to trains but this has now been rectified.

“We are very sorry for the disruption to your morning.”

South West Trains is currently accepting Southern Railway tickets between Southampton, Portsmouth and Havant.
