MOTORISTS faced lengthy delays on a busy Hampshire motorway after a crash this afternoon.

The air ambulance was called to the scene on the M27 after a collision between a car and a motorcycle at 4.44pm.

The crash took place near to junction three of the M27 at about 5pm, leaving the motorway’s westbound carriageways blocked.

The eastbound carriageway was completely closed to allow the air ambulance to land.

Two fire engines were also called to the scene.

One male was taken by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital, with what have been described as 'potentially serious' injuries.

The road was fully reopened by 6pm.
