Billy Sharp completes Great South Run

Billy Sharp completed the Great South Run today - less than 24 hours after playing for Nottingham Forest.

The on-loan Saints striker played the full 90 minutes as Forest won 4-1 at Barnsley on Saturday afternoon – then completed the ten-mile course in Portsmouth in an impressive time of 71mins 33secs.

Sharp was running on the weekend of what would have been his late son's first birthday.

So far, his run has raised more than £1,400 for the Luey Jacob Sharp Foundation, set up in the wake of his son’s tragic death.

Saints fans gave their support by applauding during the 11th minute of today's defeat at home to Spurs, 11 being Sharp's shirt number. To sponsor Billy, visit justgiving.com/Billy-Sharp.

Because he has a season-long loan deal signed in the last day of the summer transfer window he may not be back even in January and also the deal has no recall clause which meant that he will play for Nottingham Forest all the way.

Furthermore, the deal also has a option for him to move to Forest permanently which looks likely in the summer. Forest boss wants him to stay!!!!!

Sorry mates but it looks like we will lose him!

Well done, Billy. Seven-minute miling after a full match, and a good sum raised for the Luey Jacob Foundation too. Respect.

IF that is the case shame on CORTESE for not negotiating a recall clause.send him back to Switzerland where he can do havoc with the swiis banking system.we dont need him at Southampton.

Absolutely. Shame on Cortese for helping to save the club and playing a major part in dragging us back to the Premiership.

Plonkers galore on this site. Unbelievable

IT WASN'T CORTESE WHO SAVED THE CLUB IT WAS MARCUS L. R.I.P. without that great mans calming influence Cortese is in my mind a liability to the club.much too arrogant and secretive by far.Like many foreign owners/executives all he think about is big bucks tradition and good old english footballing family values often seem to go out the window.e.g.cortese's scandalous sacking of the programme sellers being just one example of this.
