“AFTER the Lord Mayor’s Show” was Totton boss Steve Riley’s verdict after his FA Trophy heroes were held at home last night.

Hertfordshire side Hitchin Town held them 2-2 at Testwood Stadium in the Evo Stik Southern League Premier Division.

First-half goals from Richard Gillespie and Jamie Whisken were cancelled out by the lively front pairing of Stewart King and John Frendo but in the end neither side could fashion a winner and a draw seemed a fair result – a verdict with which Riley agreed at the end. “We didn’t do enough up front to win but we showed great character to come back from behind twice” he added. “I told the boys that we needed four points from these two league games said Riley, referring to this Saturday’s game with Leicestershire side Barwell, “so now we have to beat them”.
