Saints trio James Ward-Prowse, Jack Stephens and Calum Chambers all played their part as England Under-19s beat Finland with a dramatic late penalty last night.

A needless foul on sub Adebayo Azeez by Finnish captain and keeper Daniel Kollar in the third minute of stoppage time allowed England captain John Lundstram to slot home the winner with the last kick of the game at AFC Telford's New Bucks Head Stadium.

Lundstram and his midfield partner Ward-Prowse, who stayed on for 69 minutes before becoming one of seven players substituted, were proficient throughout with their movement and passing.

Centre back Stephens played the first 45 minutes of the friendly encounter, with midfield ace Chambers coming on for the second half.

Elsewhere, Nathaniel Clyne came off the bench to help Stuart Pearce’s Under-21 side equal a 21- year record as they registered their sixth win on the spin.

Clyne played the last half-an-hour at Blackpool's Bloomfield Road, as England beat their Northern Ireland counterparts 2-0, thanks to a Connor Wickham strike and a Benik Afobe penalty.

The friendly result meant that England completed their games in 2012 with a 100 percent record.

What a pleasant change.
It is really nice to read this very positive Echo report.
The boys are going to be great assets to our teams' future.
Onwards and upwards.
Hope to be posting equally positive posts on here after my visit to QPR Saturday.
