  • "Two things from the QPR game for me.
Gaston is a luxury ( and a very good one ), but should be used accordingly. When Davis came on, Saints were no worse and Davis attacked as much as Gaston did. I think Gaston is better at home and coming on when opposition legs are tired . His skills are fantastic. However often for the 1st half we need work rate and I would consider a 5th midfielder ( davis or ward prowse ), and use Gaston more tactically.
Secondly the non - communication of NC with the media is so correct in my view. You can see how the media struggle to get stories from the Saints. They then make them up. At least we know it cannot be the truth as they know so little. NC keeping quiet I am sure helps Nigel. You only have to look at how much Tony Fernandes has said in recent weeks to see the mess that has landed Mark Hughes and him in now."

A first away win of the season was not enough to move Saints up from 19th place, but Puncheon insists the side are now showing that they are far better than their position suggests.

“As a group we've always known that we shouldn’t be where we are,” he said.
