Nigel Adkins favourite to take over as new Blackpool manger

Nigel Adkins Nigel Adkins

Nigel Adkins has been installed as the odds-on favourite to take over the vacant position as Blackpool manager, following his sacking at Saints.

The 15th-placed Championship side are without a boss, following Michael Appleton’s departure for Blackburn.

Blackpool could now provide Adkins with a swift route back into management.

Prior to the Chelsea game I made a somewhat tongue in cheek comment about NC being ready to sack when Chelsea thumped us leaving the way for NA to go to Blackpool. Will try and curtail such frivolous throw away remarks in future!!

You are way better than Blackpool Nige. Hold out for any Prem club that is lucky enough to have you and we will give you a massive welcome when you bring your new team to St Marys.

Blackpool would be fools not to sign up Adders. Looking forward to playing them at St Mary's when Saints fans can give Adders a huge welcome.

Karl Oyston, the chairman at Blackpool - would allow NA to speak to other clubs - if a better paid job cropped up.

As everyone knows - he allowed both Palace and Blackburn, to speak to Holloway and Appleton and didn't prevent them from leaving.

Therefore, NA really has nothing to lose.

I seem to recall also - didn't Blackpool take 4 points off Saints last season? Hmm!

Have to say - I think it's bordering on criminal, what's happened to Nigel Adkins and I absolutely understand the total bewilderment/anger, from Saints fans.

I'm a Pool fan, resident in Southampton and have never really held any great affection for your club (probably due to years of ribbing and put-downs, from my Southampton mates?) but I have to say that you fans deserve far better from your chairman.

Saints, to my mind - were playing some of the most attractive football I've seen on TV this year and have to admit, they were greatly impressing me - despite some of the results.

Whilst I would be over the moon, if Pool acquired NA's services - Today, I genuinely feel pi$$ed off for you guys.

No Nigel, wait.
There are bigger and better clubs who will be very interested in your services than Bpool.

As a Blackpool fan my initial reaction is that the Saints demoralising and outrageous loss could be Pools gain. NA has given you his all and has delivered outstanding results on any analysis. We would love him to come to Blackpool, but if I were him I would be wary of the arrogant clown that is Karl Oyston. Worst pitch in any of the 4 leagues (frankly an embarrassment) abysmal training facilities, an obsessional reluctance to invest in the club at any level, whether it be playing staff or infrastructure, combined with an obsessional desire to milk the club dry of its finances. Blackpool could be a great club but it wont ever be under Oyston. NA should talk to Ian Holloway and Michael Appleton first, if he is remotely interested in Blackpool. If I were him I would wait for the next Premiership job. He is too good to be messed around by the likes of Oyston who I wouldnt wish on any manager. Sad, but true!

If Nigel brings a team to Southampton there will be 32,500 away fans supporting him, he won't have 11 players but 32,511.
