SAINTS loanee Lee Barnard scored on his Oldham debut – then saw the manager that signed him resign today!

Barnard’s goal gave his new club a 1-0 lead at Walsall in yesterday’s League 1 encounter, only for the hosts to hit back and win 3-1.

That was the club’s eighth league loss in nine outings and boss Paul Dickov resigned his post today – a week after guiding Oldham to a sensational FA Cup victory over Liverpool at Boundary Park.

Elsewhere, both Steve De Ridder and Jonathan Forte got off to losing starts at their new clubs.

They came on as a second half sub for Bolton and Sheffield United respectively in 2-1 losses at Watford and at home to Coventry in the Championship and League 1 respectively.

But a fourth Saints loanee, Ben Reeves, enjoyed a winning start at new club Southend. He came on as an 81st minute sub and Ryan Leonard’s goal four minutes later gave the Shrimpers a League 2 home win against Oxford United.
