FIVE Hampshire players are pre-season training in Sri Lanka after being refused access to training facilities in India.

Captain Jimmy Adams was due to train at the Global Cricket School in Pune with Liam Dawson, Chris Wood, Hamza Riazuddin and Sean Terry but were denied permission by the Board of Control for Cricket in India following England’s recent Test series win.

Angered by the fact that the likes of Joe Root and Steve Finn have practised in India before, the BCCI blocked the Hampshire quintet, along with 25 other county players, from using their facilities.

So Adams, Dawson, Wood, Riazuddin and Terry have flown to Sri Lanka, where they joined players from Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Kent and Yorkshire.
