Schneiderlin signs new Saints deal
8:04pm Monday 25th February 2013 in Sport
Morgan Schneiderlin
Saints midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has signed a new contract at the club that runs until the summer of 2017.
The 23-year-old told the club's website: “I am a very happy man. To commit my future to Southampton is a big thing because this club has big ambitions – and I have big ambitions as well."
Schneiderlin joined Saints in 2008 from RC Strasbourg in a deal worth up to £1.2m.
The French player has made 185 appearances for the club, and is currently enjoying an impressive first season in the Premier League.
Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino added: "I am delighted that the club has been able to extend Morgan’s contract.
“During my short time with Southampton, Morgan has shown what a capable player he is and has demonstrated his potential to become one of the Premier League’s most complete midfielders."

It's the same with wine (No, French wine ISN'T necessarily better than all the others), it's the same with cheese (No, France isn't the only place in the world that makes good cheese) and it's the same with Spiderman (No, you don't have any centre mids who are better than Morgan). I've tried putting them right, but once a Frenchman gets an idea in his head, he's too stubborn to change his mind.
How long before he's eligible for England?

I seem to recall a number of these existed last season.
I said that he will become a force for us, this has come to fruition now, certainly aided by the fantastic help from Corky since his return from injury.
This and Pochettino's attacking game allows him to get further forward.
This now improving his goal scorring.

Now it makes me wonder why Puncheon hasn't been sorted out. I'm thinking Punch (or some greedy agents) may be asking for too much, he's valuable but not irreplaceable.
Anyway getting back to the story, Schneiderlin will see great success with this club. It was a good decision.

Spider is real quality, first name on the team sheet, player of the season, and Saints legend in the making.
So where are the EXPERTS who said that this lad wouldn't be able to do it at prem level, now?

This is significant, firstly because he is an absolute foundation stone in the team. Secondly it shows that Cortese is on the ball and that the club is capable of keeping it's key players.

the puncheon scenario is puzzling either the club or the player or as you say probably a greedy agent are holding out. .puncheon has been at his best and should be kept on if possible but as you say he is not irreplacable like say rickie, luke ,adam or corky.
I know you can't turn back the clock but it would have been great if we could have held on to nathan dyer.we got next to nothing for him from swansea and he was brilliant at wembley on sunday.dave merrington who is a good judge of a player always reckoned that he was as good as walcott during their time at the club.Dyer would be a great replacement for punch if he decides he wants off.i know the swans are in europe next season but who knows.Nicola C put in a cheeky bid for Theo last summer and maybe he will do the same for dyer this summer.at the end of the day SOUTHAMPTON are a bigger club than swansea.
