CLAUS Lundekvam is hoping Saints repeat the success he enjoyed against Liverpool when he returns to St Mary’s today.

The former Saints captain helped defeat Liverpool 2-0 in three of their four previous visits to St Mary’s, from January 2002-05.

He will be back for the first time this season with the players of FC Bønes, who he is preparing for the new Norwegian season.

Lundekvam is combining his role as a TV pundit with managing the non-leaguers.

They have spent the last two days training at Totton College, where Lundekvam’s former Saints and Norway teammate Jo Tessem is a coach, and fly home tomorrow.

Lundekvam, 40, said: “I wanted to do something in football again and had offers from my old club Brann to do academy work. “But I’ve decided to take it slowly and try and build something from scratch. It’s nice to give something back and I really enjoy it.

“It means I can also combine coaching with my TV work so being the gaffer of these boys is perfect! “We want to achieve something and I think we can get a few quick promotions. I’m getting them organised and fit and they’ve given me a great response.”
