NICK Buis romped to victory in the penultimate round of the Hampshire League, the Alton 10.

The Totton Running Club star had pulled away from his nearest rivals by the third mile, extending his lead constantly by the time the finish line was reached.

In second place was the current league individual leader, Stuart Cameron of Salisbury.

The latter saw his club win the men’s team honours to virtually make certain of the Division One title for 2013.

The women’s race was won by a lady who had never run at Alton before, despite living just up the road and racing for Hart Runners.

Lesley Locks led from gun to tape, and hopes to race at Marwell in the 10k this weekend.

New Forest’s Erica Fogg finished second to maintain her leading position as top female competitor in this year’s league.

Third behind Fogg was the lady who is also lying third in the overall standings, Kate West from Salisbury.

She just failed to help her team pip Winchester to team gold on the day.

There is just a two week pause before the Netley 10k is held around the traffic free grounds of Victoria Country Park on Sunday, May 19.

The clubs meet again on Monday, June 3 at Fleming Park (7.30pm) at the league AGM to agree the 2013/14 fixture list.
