Saints skipper Adam Lallana has hailed the “massive strides” his side have made this season.

Lallana is one of many Saints players to have risen with the club from League One, through the Championship and into the Premier League, where the club will be again next season.

“I think it’s fantastic,” said Lallana.

“Considering the majority of the squad were playing in League One two years ago we’ve made massive strides forward.”

Midfield colleague Jason Puncheon added: “It’s been unbelievable. It’s been a massive turnaround for myself and the football club has just grown and grown.

“It’s more than exciting.

“This is the third year in a row it’s exciting and now we look forward to next season.”
