Mauricio Pochettino is being linked with two more La Liga stars.

Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas’ representative has been quoted in Spain as saying Saints and West Ham are interested in the 26-year-old Costa Rican international.

Navas reportedly has a buy-out clause of about £8.5m in his contract, although it has been suggested that the La Liga outfit would accept a substantially lower amount.

Saints have also been linked with a move for midfielder Éver Banega, who plays for Levante’s neighbours, Valencia.

The 24-year-old Argentine international is under contract at the Mestalla until 2015 and it is claimed Saints are considering offering £8m for him.

Like Banega, Navas’ current deal at his club also runs until 2015, with Levante only having signed the player last summer from Albacete for about £125,000.

Navas made 25 appearances across all competitions for his club last season, with his performances towards the end of the campaign particularly impressive.

He has been capped 44 times by Costa Rica, keeping clean sheets in each of their last three World Cup qualifiers, with the Central Americans firmly on course to qualify for next year’s tournament in Brazil.

Saints already have three senior goalkeepers on their books, with Artur Boruc, Kelvin Davis and Paulo Gazzaniga all part of the first-team squad.

Poland’s number one, Boruc, established himself as the first-choice keeper at St Mary’s last season and the 33-year-old only recently signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Long-time Saints custodian Davis, 36, has therefore been largely relegated to a back-up role, although he also penned a fresh contract last March, tying him to St Mary’s until 2016.

Gazzaniga, who was signed from Gillingham last summer, is just 21 and was described at one stage last season by former manager Nigel Adkins as “the future of the club”.

The Argentinean stopper’s deal runs until 2016.

Saints also have United States’ under-20 goalkeeper Cody Cropper in their set-up.

As reported in yesterday’s Daily Echo, Saints have also been linked with Pochettino’s former Espanyol captain Juan Verdu, though Greek club Olympiakos have emerged as favourites to sign the midfielder.
