Saints will start the new Premier League season away to West Brom – and end it by facing defending champions Manchester United.

The final day match at St Mary’s is the stand out game of the Saints fixture list for 2013/14 which was released today.

After last season’s horror opening run, Saints have quite the opposite this time out with only trips to Liverpool and Manchester United puncturing a stint of 11 winnable looking games.

That run gives them a fantastic chance of building the kind of momentum required for Mauricio Pochettino and his men if they are to mount a serious challenge for a European place.

The Christmas and New Year period sees a nasty double header of trips to Cardiff and Everton in the space of just a couple of days before taking on Chelsea at home on New Year’s Day.

Saints’ run-in is about as kind as it could be with Cardiff, Aston Villa, Everton and Swansea coming before that final game of the campaign against United.

The first few months of the fixture list will be changed when Sky Sports and BT Sport making their live TV picks with those expected in about two-three weeks.

In tomorrow's Daily Echo, we'll have a pullout special with all the Premier League fixtures.
