Souchaux star open to Saints move

Daily Echo: Fabio Quagliarella Fabio Quagliarella

Ryad Boudebouz says he would consider a move to Saints.

The 23-year-old Souchaux star is the latest of a string of attacking wide midfielders to be linked with the club and responded to the reports in the French media by confessing he would be interested in a switch to St Mary’s.

He said: “I have a contract until 2014 here so let’s see what the club will say, I am open to talk.

“My dream has always been to play in England or Spain.

“To be linked with Southampton is interesting; it is everyone’s dream to be linked with good teams in big leagues in Europe.

“Southampton has a good history in the Premier League but I have a contract with Sochaux who is like Southampton in France.”

Saints have also been linked with a move for Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella.

The 30-year-old, who has been capped 25 times by Italy, is understood to be surplus to requirements at Juventus.

Norwich are believed to have sounded out a potential £6m move for the striker but his wage demands, reportedly around £40,000 a week, also need to be taken into account.

Firstly, it's "Sochaux"

Secondly, have the reporters linking us with 30+ yr ols not read all the previous articles littered around that Saints model is to sign young althletic players, who will command a sell on fee in a few yrs time (like Bor Dortmund are doing).

It's old Saggy Chps that likes to buy aged 'expereienced' players who have little, or no, sell on value.

This is the Saints way........

An odd tale about Boudebouz, he was caught smoking Shisha and has been banned from the Algerian squad.
Shisha is a hubble bubble pipe thingy, but what was actually in it, isn't mentioned. However Sisa is Crystal Meth, just wondering if someone got their wires crossed?

getting closer to the new season now and we still need a defender now forren has gone.

also need a backup for lambert.

and another winger like the one above.

lets hope it all gets done soon as it would be good for all the signings to take part in a few friendlies and get use to each other

It is indeed Sochaux .. I'm just surprised the Echo got as close as it did with Souhaux. They have however avoided mentioning nationality. Is he Kenyan, Nigerian, French, Algerian, Arab, Madagascan, Polish, Scottish or maybe descended from the Orkneys? It will all become clear.

I expect this story to run and run, along with the one about the striped beardy from Greece. At least one mention of each every day this week until they sign someone else.

The signing of Alicescat has crept in under the radar. He will be at a press conference later to day along with the usual shirt being displayed for photo opportunities. The shirt, the first with four armholes for a cat, will be available in the Saints shop at the usual bargain price of £180 for adults and £238 for junior sizes.

This is a potential problem. If he turns out to be rubbish and lazy and we all boo, with a name like Boudebouz he might think we are cheering.

Imagine some fans frustration if the words Fox and Guly meant "brilliant" and "legend" in English or Lambert and Lallana meant "waster" and "off".

It's about time we signed a player called Keith Smith.
