Boruc to undergo injury x-rays

Daily Echo: Artur Boruc Artur Boruc

Artur Boruc has been taken to hospital for x-rays on his injured left hand.

The Saints keeper sustained the damage as he tried to prevent Chelsea’s equaliser at Stamford Bridge.

The Poland international was forced from the field immediately afterwards and, with Kelvin Davis out injured, was replaced by Paulo Gazzaniga.

Saints have a quick turnaround before their next game against Aston Villa at St Mary’s on Wednesday night and there must also be a doubt over Morgan Schneiderlin after the Frenchman limped off with what appeared to be a groin injury in the 3-1 defeat to the Blues.

“We do not know yet,” said Pochettino when asked about the extent of Boruc’s injury.

“He’s going to hospital to get some x-rays done and after that we will know exactly what he has done to his hand or wrist.”

Expect Gazza to play against the Villains, he did OK today but Terry's goal was perfectly placed.

It's the £17M man who needs to deliver in the next2 games and fast.

No sign of Ramirez - even on the bench - and Osvaldo totally ineffective. Surely one or both must be moved out next month.

Saints played quite well today but we need to start moving the ball forward a bit quicker and start turning our possession in to goals.

The first game this season we deserved to lose. Osvaldo is now the weakest link. Wanyama played well but we seem to be getting tired playing the pressing game. Gazza could've done better at the end but that's picking at straws.
January, we need a striker like Lukaku.

Things could be worse, we could be in the lowest league holding out for a draw against hartlepool and try to use history as a last resort.

Osvaldo linked the play up well but never looked like scoring or creating any thing for himself or others. Maybe needs more time as the EPL is a lot faster than Italian league.

From Wikipedia on Thierry Henri:

"Brought in as a replacement for fellow French forward Nicolas Anelka, Henry was immediately moulded into a striker by Wenger, a move that would pay rich dividends in years to come. However, doubts were raised about his ability to adapt to the quick and physical English game when he failed to score in his first eight games."

Talk about shipping Dani out may be just a TAD permature, don't you think...

I like the comment League Two leaders Oxford's chairman Ian Lenagan would not confirm if Portsmouth had made an official approach, but said he was not concerned by any interest in the 46-year-old.

"The fact that one club, who are a failing club, comes in for him. That tells you he is a good manager," Lenagan told BBC Radio Oxford.

The thing is we have a team, built in league 1 and the championship, that has raised it's game far beyond any reasonable expectations. We've added three massive signings for this club at £8m, £12m and £17m. The £8m is a bargain buy and has had a huge impact, the £12m can't even get on the bench and the £17m isn't delivering.

Agreed, but only sell if we can benefit from it, we cannot stand still or we will start to go backwards, it's tough at the top and not going to get any easier for now, in NC and Poch we trust.

I am not too confident going into this run of games now. Gazzaniga can do a job, but not to the level of Boruc. For all our amazing defensive work this season, it's Boruc who has really kept us in games. His comedic errors have been the exception, not the rule. The back line has been breached multiple times only for him to produce vital and difficult saves. I can't see young Gazza doing the same. The outfield players are really going have to protect him and keep the shots down, something that is going to be near impossible against Man City next weekend. We should still pick up points here and there, but I can see us slipping down to mid-table by Christmas. Still, I guess we would have taken that at the start of the year.

I wouldn't expect any knee-jerk reactions in January, Seed. It's not the 'Southampton Way'. I suspect the management are more than happy with the way the season has gone so far, even if some fans aren't. I concur with them. We have lost three games this season, all away and two to the top two teams in the league. Good performance by any standards.
