Morgan could make Saints return

Daily Echo: Morgan Schneiderlin Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin is touch and go to return to the Saints squad to face Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The French midfielder has been sidelined with a pelvic injury but has returned to light training.

Schneiderlin is the only one of Mauricio Pochettino’s long injury list in contention to come back for the game, though the Saints boss said the 24–year-old is not fit enough to play a full 90 minutes.

“The only option that we are analysing still that may be on the list for Saturday's game is Morgan Schneiderlin,” reported Pochettino.

“If he weren't to be on the list, he wouldn't be physically fit to play the full 90 minutes.

“Tomorrow we will make the final evaluation to see if he is able to play a few minutes on Saturday or if it is better that he stays here and keeps on training.”

Opportunity to see if the JC/MS partnership is still firing on all cylinders.
Cork was superb last week and deserves to be in the team.

Excellent. Nothing like having a German back in our team to get those Newcastle froggies surrendering.

It's great news that he is fairly close to fitness. He clearly won't start so hopefully JC will continue to show what a valuable player he is for us. We don't want any other clubs thinking he is available in January. If the stories are true that he hasn't really spoken to the manager about his situation then I think it is high time he Is given the reassurance that he is a very important cogin the wheel.

Love the rye humour from Confucious and the 'local' response, Elsass. Of course, as you and I know, Morgan isn't German OR French, but a proud Elsässisch.

Elsässisch und stolz - NICHT von der Inneren!!!!!! (or something like that!)

He is certainly missed but we have rushed players back before they were fully fit and regretted it later on.

Bring him back when he has recovered. Jack will make a good deputy in the meantime.

Alsace-Lorraine has often been over run by krauts and I guess 'Schneiderlin' is a tad more square head than frog.

Completely agree, I'd love to see Corky and Spider back in the middle. Wanyama is a power house but Cork and Schneiderlin have a good understanding he is also possibly a better passer.
