A FORMER Saints striker was blasted by his manager for an “undefendable” red card yesterday.
Brett Ormerod was sent off for only the second time in a professional career spanning over 500 league and cup games in Wrexham’s 0-0 Conference Premier draw with Halifax. The 37-year-old striker – by far the most experienced man on the pitch - kicked out at Marc Roberts to earn a straight red right before half time.
Morrell said: “The sending off changed the game. Brett’s played 500 or 600 games and to do that is undefendable.
“I told him he’s let his teammates down, the fans, the staff and himself. I can’t condone it for a 19-year-old, never mind someone of Brett’s experience “They get fined for things like that. Maybe I have to triple the fines because you don’t win games going down to 10 men.”
