Mauricio Pochettino admitted his disappointment that Saints only got a point out of a game they dominated at Sunderland.
The Saints boss was delighted that his players bounced back from a tough week that has seen boardroom upheaval at the club with a fine performance at the Stadium of Light.
But he was frustrated that the game ended in a 2-2 draw when it might have been a very handsome Saints win.
He said: “I am quite disappointed with that point. I think we deserved to win the match.
“In the end we leave with one point and two injuries and we hope these injuries are not as bad as they seemed.”
Pochettino, who said he will try and meet Katharina Liebherr in the coming days, continued: “I am very happy with the performance. They showed they are great professionals and they had the right attitude.
“I want to congratulate them as I have done in the past.
“I think all Southampton supporters should be very proud of their team because they played very well in light of what happened this week.”
