Rwanda here - just bet the £20 I won on Saints winning last on on us to win again this week - hoping to win enough for a plane ticket home for the last game of the season :-)

Quick note Norge - we're gonna be winning games in the Prem for many years to come, and we need your end-of-game tirade against the losers from loserville - maybe don't dredge up every single name season? Leave someone for times to come? I mean, Norway weren't expecting to do it every year until the end of time. Just a thought .....

Stoke's away form is poor, so hoping we are on our mettle and get a few early goals, although I have read that Stoke concede most goals in the 15 minutes before half time.

Which way is the wind blowing? Does Boruc need to be wary of Begovic going for goal?

If I was Hughes, I'd target kicking Lallana, JRod and Lambert out of the game, as we look very short of goals, on the bench.

Other than Lorven think we have fielded our strongest side today. I prefer Cork to Wanyama as an all round player. Though i think both have their place depending on the opposition. If we are up in 60 minute mark, expect Victor to come on. He needs to get match fit. This should be three points today and we want to add to our goal difference. I'm predicting 3-0 but if I'm wrong I hope it's 4-0. Wind and rain may cause us some trouble if they park the bus - you know they will until we score.

Greetings from across the border. We're in the Black Forest this weekend.

If ever there was a home banker ........

BUT, with the conditions and our record against teams who defend deep and play agressively, anything is possible.

An early Saints' goal would make a lot of difference.

I should know this, but which way is the wind likely to be blowing? Across the family section, towards the away fans, is it? If so, I hope Artur is in front of the Chapel End for the first half, what we don't want now is a first-minute, wind-assisted Begovic goal.

Nah! I'm going 4-0 Saints, including a first for man-of-the-moment Jack.

I have the feeling that MP has set us up to play short passes across midfield. I imagine that's for 2 reasons, first the wind and second to draw Stoke out of their defensive formation. Interesting tactics but I'm not sure we need to be that cautious now we have the lead. I'd rather see us get the ball wide and attack their fullbacks.

I don't think either handball was deliberate, just dumb. Twice he had his arm up, twice the ball struck it and twice the ref correctly gave a foul. I guess he felt the second deserved a card but it was a soft card, really. Not sure about the elbowing, I didn't notice it.

The game matched the weather. Crap. We had no imagination to get through their defence. I don't know why Jay did not make runs through them to create openings. On corners we rarely threaten anyone. As for Saints, too much time was spent trying to work a way through a congested centre. We have to find a way to beat these teams. I was surprised MP didn't change things earlier. I thought he might have bought on Victor to give Crouch and Walters a bit of their own physical medicine.

Never thought I'd say it, but Mark Hughes played a blinder.

He negated our threat down the flanks by playing two quick players, who both did a great job in stopping Shaw and Clyne from giving us the width we needed.

Second half, both Shaw and Clyne were being forced inside, which is exactly what Stoke wanted, because every high ball forward, was meat and drink for their centre backs.
Plus, when we tried to play it through them, on the ground, there were no spaces to play through.

The lack of options on the bench, didn't help and I'm left thinking that Isgrove can't be any quicker than Clyne or Shaw, or he may have been worth a chance in the dying minutes, to get to the byeline.

I thought we played into their hands. Admittedly it's not easy playing good football in those conditions. They did well first half trying to press us but we played too much in the air. Shawcross won everything and we needed to bypass him somehow. Their main route to goal is still Wet Spam type hoof ball to Crouch and while refs keep letting him get away with constant fouling of defenders they will never change. Unfortunately nobody had a really great game today. We just needed one magic moment to beat a side a million miles not as good as us, but I think the weather was the winner.

It’s rather strange that Katherina was here again today – why the sudden interest? I know she has become chair of the club but presumably she is chair of umpteen other subsidiaries of her company. Good to see her of course but surely someone should have told her to never come to a Stoke game. It’s always frustrating, always a draw, always wet and cold and always a right pain.

As good as Cork has been, we probably missed a fit Wanyama in the first half when Charlie Adam ran the show. And we were a bit clueless up front when we took control in the second half. Not enough movement by Rodriguez and Lambert – suddenly obvious we had no options up front with Oslvado gone and Gallagher missing.

Typical Mark Hughes' eleven men behind the ball
tactics. Boring, boring, boring Stoke plus blunder Boruc = a draw, unfortunately.
"blunder Boruc"? Didn't notice anything wrong at the game; what did he do?
I hasten to add that while it was possible for him to save the one-on-one, I didn't really expect it. I may see something different on MOTD tonight but I'll be amazed if it was just his fault.

The second goal was his blunder, not the first.

Yep! Littleton's referring to the second goal. No need to call him 'blunder', though, unless you add, say, 'point winner', as has been the case far more often, but he was stuck in nomansland for their second. I think Yos might also have allowed Crouch to steal a march on him, but I could be wrong about that, generally Jose was on top of Crouch.

In the end, Stoke are the kind of team we don't like playing against - especially in those conditions - so, while it's two points lost, it's a game we might well have got nothing from.

Move on - bring on Hull .......

BBC Website: 'Southampton and Stoke are still grinding their way to a draw at St Mary's. Neither side looks like they want to gamble one point in pursuit of three.'

What? We've been camped in their half, ffs.
The game matched the weather. Crap. We had no imagination to get through their defence. I don't know why Jay did not make runs through them to create openings. On corners we rarely threaten anyone. With the Osvaldo mess this has cost us a good striker which we badly need. Still no injuries on a bad day.

We were going to lose a striker anyway "the Osvaldo mess" as you put it saved us Rickie ! He's only with us because Osvaldo went.

I was wrong - not a Boruc blunder - Credit Crouch who cut across Fonte to bear the keeper to it.

She has been to every game since she took charge

Watching MOTD, noticed that the ref missed a stonewall penalty, second half.
Think it was from the corner when JRod headed wide.
Shawcross was all over Fonte, off the ball, and wrestled him to the ground.
Very similar to the penalty awarded to Chelsea, whe Eto'o was felled in the same way.

Yep! I commented on it.

Fonte tugs a shirt - minimal contact but a foul - penalty to Arsenal.
Eto'o gets a little mauling - minimal contact but a foul - penalty to Chelsea.
Fonte is held, cuddled and finally thrown to the floor - plenty of contact and easy for any of the officials to see if they're doing their job - no penalty to Saints.

Gotta love the refs!

(Oh, and F Fan, re the Crouch goal, Boruc came off his line. If a goalie comes off his line and doesn't get the ball, he has to take some of the blame. Still love Boruc, though. He saves us more than he costs us.)
