That's three defeats on the spin for Saints, who ended up being well beaten by an outstanding Liverpool side. The hosts had their moments in the first half, but the visitors undoubtedly deserved the three points. Saints remain ninth in the Premier League and will be back in action next Saturday, when they visit Crystal Palace. Thanks for joining us today. We'll have a full match report and reaction for you on the website shortly.

Saints (76 mins): Rickie Lambert and Jack Cork off, Sam Gallagher and Victor Wanyama on.
CHANCE (75 mins): Liverpool are all over Saints right now. Luis Suarez is sent racing through down the inside-right channel, but his shot across goal with the outside of his foot goes a yard wide.
CHANCE (73 mins): Steven Gerrard fizzes in a brilliant 30-yard shot, which Artur Boruc is able to tip round the post at full-stretch. A superb save.
CHANCE (72 mins): Jordan Henderson wastes a great chance to put the game completely beyond doubt, blazing over from 12 yards after receiving Joe Allen's lay back.
Jordan Henderson booked for a foul on Luke Shaw (70 mins).
Rickie Lambert reacts after missing a shot on goal.
CHANCE (69 mins): Luis Suarez takes advantage of a Dejan Lovren slip and plays in Daniel Sturridge. He rounds Artur Boruc, but can't squeeze the ball in from a very tight angle, with his shot drifting across the face.

Liverpool (56 mins): Philippe Coutinho off, Raheem Sterling on.

The second half is underway. One change for Saints at the interval, with Gaston Ramirez replacing Steven Davis.
SAINTS 0 LIVERPOOL 1
CHANCE (43 mins): Simon Mignolet makes an outstanding save to deny Jay Rodriguez. Luke Shaw goes on a wonderful run down the left and plays a low ball into the box. Rickie Lambert dummies it, allowing it to run onto Rodriguez at the back post. He hits a first-time shot back across Mignolet, who somehow readjusts and gets a hand down to stop the ball.
Luke Shaw (right) and Liverpool's Jordan Henderson battle for the ball.
Jay Rodriguez gets past Liverpool's Steven Gerrard.
CHANCE (37 mins): Artur Boruc holds on to Luis Suarez's snap-shot after Daniel Sturridge's pass had picked out the striker just inside the corner of the area.

CHANCE (32 mins): Jay Rodriguez sends in a cross from the right following nice work with Calum Chambers. Rickie Lambert shows tremendous vision to chest the ball into the path of Adam Lallana, who beats Simon Mignolet with a close-range left-foot shot, only to see the ball hit the post and rebound to safety.
CHANCE (26 mins): Luke Shaw advances down the left and plays a ball into the feet of Rickie Lambert, just inside the area. Lambert takes it on the bounce, but his right-footed effort is well off target.
CHANCE (22 mins): Jack Cork slides in and fouls Luis Suarez on the edge of the D. The Liverpool striker takes the subsequent free-kick, but fires it a few yards over the bar.
SAINTS 0 LIVERPOOL 1 (Luis Suarez 16)
A bit unfortunate for Saints, as Adam Lallana tackles Daniel Sturridge just outside the area, only to see the ball subsequently hit Jose Fonte and drop right into the path of Suarez, who produces a brilliant first-time finish to beat Artur Boruc.
Jay Rodriguez is disposessed by Liverpool's Martin Skrtel.
PENALTY APPEAL (14 mins): Adam Lallana plays a one-two with Steven Davis and, as he tries to latch onto the pass in the area, he goes to ground after Jon Flanagan bundles into him. It never looked as though the Saints captain would reach the ball, and referee Lee Probert simply awards a goal kick to the visitors.
CHANCE (9 mins): Jay Rodriguez tries to burst through the middle, but overruns the ball. Daniel Agger goes to clear, but thumps the ball against the legs of the Saints forward, with it flying just wide of the post. Play is stopped for a minute, as Luke Shaw received treatment following a clash of heads with Jon Flanagan in the build-up to the opportunity.
CHANCE (6 mins): Brilliant defending from Jose Fonte denies Liverpool and Luis Suarez a certain goal. Joe Allen plays a stunning pass over the top of the Saints defence, with Daniel Sturridge sprinting clear of Dejan Lovren to latch onto it. He squares the ball to Suarez for a tap in, but Fonte storms back in to make a last-ditch sliding interception.
Referee Lee Probert gets the match underway.

Dejan Lovren returns to Saints' starting line-up today, for the first time since injuring ankle ligaments in the 2-2 draw at Sunderland in mid-February. Liverpool might not be too pleased to see the centre-half back, though. Lovren scored the winner when the sides met at Anfield earlier in the season. He is pictured above celebrating his goal.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had some kind words to say about Saints when he addressed the media this week. Here is a clip from his press conference...
Dejan Lovren comes back into the team for his first game since getting injured at Sunderland on January 18 with Maya Yoshida, who scored in the 3-1 defeat at West Ham last week, dropping to the bench. That is the only change to the Saints starting line-up.
Jos Hooiveld misses out on a place on the bench with an eye injury but Victor Wanyama is fit after recovering from a leg injury.
Paulo Gazzaniga is the sub keeper rather than Kelvin Davis who has a hamstring problem.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Clyne, Yoshida, Wanyama, Ward-Prowse, Ramirez, Gallagher.

Hello and welcome to this Daily Echo blog covering this evening's contest between Saints and Liverpool, at St Mary's. This is always a highly anticipated fixture, which has produced some fantastic games over the years. Saints are hoping to complete the double over the Reds this season, after beating them 1-0 at Anfield earlier in the campaign. However, Brendan Rodgers' side are in exceptional form, with an eight-match unbeaten streak pushing them back into contention for the title. Liverpool are top scorers in this season's Premier League and boast the division's two leading marksmen - Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge - but Saints are a free-scoring team themselves. This promises to be a good one. Stay with us for build-up, team news and match updates.
