JAMES Ward-Prowse will aim to keep his unbeaten England under-21 record intact tonight.

The Saints midfielder is set to win his seventh cap in the European Championship qualifying game against Wales at Derby’s iPro Stadium.

Ward-Prowse made his under-21 debut in the opening game of the qualifying campaign, and has been a regular in the six games that have brought five wins and a draw.

He has scored two goals in that time, in the 5-0 win against Lithuania in October and the 9-0 destruction of San Marino the following month.

Both those goals were netted direct from free-kicks, earning him comparisons with England legend David Beckham in terms of his set-piece delivery.

Ward Prowse has been a regular in Saints’ Premier League squads this season, appearing in 25 of the club’s 28 games.

He has made 12 starts, though the last was in the 2-1 defeat at Everton last December.

His last six Premier League outings have all been as a sub, the last coming at West Ham almost a fortnight ago.

England go into the game against Wales in pole position in their qualifying group with four games left.

Ward-Prowse’s Saints colleague, Lloyd Isgrove, has been recalled to the Welsh squad and could win his fifth under-21 cap.

Yeovil-born Isgrove made his first competitive start for Saints in last August’s Capital One Cup win at Barnsley, but has not played another game since.
