Bookmakers now make Ajax boss Frank de Boer favourite to become Tottenham’s next manager, ousting previous front runner Mauricio Pochettino of Saints.

De Boer is open to speaking with Tottenham about taking over as manager at the end of the season.

After an illustrious playing career, the former Netherlands international has become a successful manager with the club whose fabled youth system he graduated from.

De Boer, who went on to play at Barcelona, Galatasaray, Rangers and then in Qatar, returned to Ajax as a coach following his retirement and has been first-team manager since 2010.

At the weekend he led the Amsterdam giants to a fourth-successive Eredivisie title, further harnessing a burgeoning reputation that has often seen him linked with a move away.

Tottenham and Monaco have been mentioned as potential summer destinations and De Boer has confirmed an interest in moving to White Hart Lane.

''I'm going to think about this possibility after the last league fixture on May 3,'' De Boer told nos.nl. ''I'm going to talk and listen.

''I would like to add something to a club, that people can say they see the hand of Frank de Boer.

''There is a beautiful example at Liverpool. That is what Brendan Rodgers is doing now making his mark.''

Reports suggest it is a matter of when rather than if Tim Sherwood will be replaced at the White Hart Lane helm, with chairman Daniel Levy ready to tear up the 18-month deal handed to him in December.

I think that Spuds have realised that Poch is staying put, rather than to move downwards.

We have probably already told Levy that he won't be released. That's the kind of story the press won't publish. At the end of the day he still has a year on his contract. In just the same way as the players who have signed contracts the club is quite within it's right to tell him/them that they will be staying.

quite right CD, the rush that some fans seem to be in just isn't needed. he has a year to run on a contract and it doesn't mater if spuds want to talk to him, they cant unless we give them permission. the press wont run these types of stories and when MP does sign a new contract it wont be reported all over the back pages, like the stories of him going, it will just be a small piece 3 pages in. I`m not convinced that most of these rumours of MP to spuds are true, if they were I think the `reporters` would be able to spell spuds stadium correctly. most of the `reports` suggest MP is due at white `heart` lane! a decent sports reporter, who actually has a job and isn't just a graduate looking to make a name for himself, would know its white `hart` lane FFS. are they not even proof reading their rubbish.
I don't know if anyone ever watched pete Vs life on C4 but these reporters remind me of him, will write anything in an attempt to get a job from a mag or red top.
oh well only a few more months until the window closes, and I know it hasn't even opened yet!

It's White Hart Lane, not its white hart lane. Suggest you proof read before posting.
