Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo not included in Italy's 30-man provisional World Cup squad

Daily Echo: Dani Osvaldo Dani Osvaldo

Dani Osvaldo’s miserable season suffered another dismal turn tonight, as the Saints striker missed out on a place in Italy’s World Cup squad.

The forward, who had been a regular fixture for the Azzurri up until know, was left out by head coach Cesare Prandelli for the trip to Brazil.

His omission comes after a dreadful season for the 28-year-old, who joined Saints in a club-record deal from Roma last summer.

Osvaldo scored just three times before being loaned to Juventus in January, a move that followed his two-week suspension for allegedly headbutting teammate José Fonte in training.

The striker’s goalscoring form did not improve with the newly-crowned Serie A champions, however, as he netted only three times for them as well.

Two of those goals came in the Europa League, while he also scored in last week’s 1-0 win at his former club, Roma.

Well he is just not good enough and at nearly 29 only has a couple of seasons left so is not worth anything like what we paid for him.
Best to try and use him as a makeweight in a transfer for a player we do want or get what we can for him.

I see Chelsea value Edin Hazard at over £45m in which case Adam is worth at least that or more after the World Cup. So Les Reed, tell Liverpool to double their bid as that is what it would cost us to replace his quality. At 18 Luke is worth even more as he should have 15 seasons at the top, so tell Manure to at least double their bid.
Plus make sure we have a decent sell on % in any deal.

Well he's 29 and it seems he has learned nothing. Unfortunately it might cost our club some cash but he really does not deserve to go. A totally unprofessional prat . It's a shame he has made a good living out of football. If he comes back to Saints I'd have him cleaning the boots.

What do you mean good riddance? Chances are that we will be lumbered with him or sell at a massive loss.
