Morgan Schneiderlin speaks to new Southampton boss Ronald Koeman but remains unsure on his future

Daily Echo: Schneiderlin holds Koeman talks Schneiderlin holds Koeman talks

Morgan Schneiderlin has spoken with new Saints boss Ronald Koeman, but the midfielder says he does not know where his future lies this summer.

Schneiderlin, who has been linked with Arsenal, has been away on international duty at the World Cup with France, who were knocked out by Germany in the quarter-finals on Friday.

However, he revealed that he had talked to Koeman on the phone about a week ago, with the Saints manager saying he wants the 24-year-old to remain at St Mary’s.

Schneiderlin was non-committal when discussing his future, though, saying he didn’t know what would happen.

He is quoted as saying: “Yes, he (Koeman) called me about a week ago. But what was said will stay between us.

“He wants me to stay and we’ll see. I don’t know yet. I still have three years left on my contract at Southampton.

“Nothing has happened, I am going to relax and go on holiday and we will see.”

Schneiderlin added: “We have a lot of money coming into the club and now it is up to the board to spend this money.

“I have seen how many players left the club. It is the club’s choice and I have nothing to say about their choice.”

On France’s 1-0 defeat to Germany, Schneiderlin said: “It was very disappointing, but we played against a very good Germany team.”

Reading between the lines on this he sounds a tad peed off at the board for selling so many players. But at least he's had the good grace to speak to the manager. I'd say if we bring some real quality in soon we've got a chance of keeping him.

We need ANSWERS not media gossip , but if Spider leaves then I personally think the WRITING IS FIRMLY ON THE WALL . and St Mary s will be a stadium of NIGHTMARES

Lets all hope Morgan stays and we make him captain, but his decision to stay will depend upon who we buy in the next 10 days to convince him to stay. He needs to see who is coming which will show what ambition Saints have to push on.

We are all 'p***ed off' that the board have allowed at least 3 of our star players to leave and possibly more to follow so Saints need to show him a reason to stay.

From what I understand from Lovren's interview, that is the suggestion. The push to CL has weakened and people who came for "the vision" are bailing out accordingly.

I agree and have been saying on these sites that it is not just about the money. The main reason for them leaving is AMBITION.

They all signed up to Nicola Cortese's promise of CL football, but since his leaving they believe this dream has now gone.

They now all believe that the club will not finance that next step so where does that leave them ? Most of our World Cup players have proved that they can play at that level and want to fulfill that ambition.

The board should not have sold all three of our England players, certainly not before buying first.

We all knew and been saying that we needed 4 top quality players added to last seasons squad before the departures, now we need 7 or 8 !

If we do sign this number then the club may match Morgan's ambition, if not why would he stay.

It is down to the new board to show players and fans what the plan is and start signing top quality players urgently, not mediocre ones.

Rondo says he wants him to stay Morgan has at least had the class to say we will see how it goes, Lambert sale made sense, Shaw was never really that close to the club and was always likely to go, Lallana had to go as his ego had outgrown the changing room, Lovren clearly will go at the right cost, but I think we have about two weeks to convince Morgan to stay with some class signings. 3 players out so far hopefully 2 in on Monday and with May UK a back. Just need Rondo to sign a class cent back quickly and we may just keep Morgan from the vultures. If he is sold it has to be to Arsenal not Spuds!

It's quite obvious that Morgan has been told by someone that the club lack ambition and all the players will be sold, but then he's spoken to Koeman who says the opposite and he'll be getting quality replacements.
Morgan's just waiting to see which way it's going to swing.

I wonder who put the doubts into his mind.

The previous manager was well known to have his favourites, namely Shaw, Lallana, Lovren, Morgan, JRod and Wanyama.
I'll bet a pound to a shiney turd that Wanyama is the next to want to leave.
I think if JRod was fit he would be off too, hopefully before he fully recovers we'll have a decent team and he wants to be part of it.
I still find it suspicious that Lovren said the aim was for a Europa League spot at the very least, yet the previous manager put out an under strength team in the FA Cup.

The previous chairman was under the impression that he WAS Southampton FC and without him the Saints are nothing and he's trying his hardest to prove it.
The previous chairman and manager did a fairly good job when employed by Saints but I reckon they left a lot of poison behind when they walked out.
Funny how in Rickie's heartfelt goodbye letter, the previous chairman didn't get a mention.

There is a lot of rumours about financial management under Cortese. It appears KL has stumped up a lot of money to meet with the commitments he made. That may have slowed the push for the CL for a year or two whilst the club re-groups with new board and Manager.
I know players have a limited life at the top, I also know injury can finish players before they have even started playing - never mind games in a WC.
Playing for your country is the ultimate (well it should be!) but it comes with warnings. If you're any good other players from bigger clubs will do one of two things. Either totally blank you because you're from little Southampton or be on a mission to get you to their club.
Sick to death if all the chest thumping and badge kissing - we all know it's all about the money for Lallana, Shaw and Lovren. Who can blame them?
For me the only loyalty in football is that of the fans. Rickie Lambert is a Liverpool fan - I understand his loyalties! It must have been difficult playing against them 4-times and looking to beat his childhood club!
I will always follow Southampton regardless what league or who plays for them. I love going to live games - but it is a rediculous price. I will try and stream live every week at home until it's no longer available - then it will be back to "Score" on the BBC for updates! Don't get me started on the price of shirts! I love stripes by why £50? Someone us seriously extracting the urine!
So Morgan do what you must. No skin off my nose! If you want to be part of Ronald Koeman's vision you will be a valued member of the team/squad. If not please just go about your business without dragging the good name (what's left of it) of our club through the back pages of the media. We have plenty of competition for your position - may be not what you want? It won't e any easier at Arsenal where arguably competition will be more intense. I believe for your further advancement you need Southampton FC as much as we need you!

FC Twente did not risk Southampton target Dusan Tadic in a friendly as he moves towards the exit door.
This past afternoon, Twente defeated Dutch amateur side VV Oldenzaal 14-1 in a pre-season friendly and Tadić was nowhere to be seen. The interviewer then suggested that could the Serbian be moving to Southampton and Schreuder replied: “There is a big chance that will happen”.

It is down to the new board to show players and fans what the plan is and start signing top quality players urgently, not mediocre ones.
I disagree - our so-called World Cup stars failed in Brazil.
Spider could hardly get into the first team.
Ralph's dream of Euro football can't be achieved with our failed
runaways abd wantaways. Let's dump them and re-build
under R.K. with better players who will deliver
Euro football.

David Marshall could be on his way to Southampton as Ronald Koeman prepares £8m bid for the Cardiff City goalkeeper. Southampton are poised to make a formal £8million offer for Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall. The Scotland international was outstanding last season and Cardiff value him closer to £15m. Southampton are also considering Fraser Forster at Celtic after enquiring about his price.

I agree that we are in a fantastic situation where we can buy 8 young players and we only need 2 or 3 of them to make the international squad and we will ba as we were last season! There is so much doom and gloom on this website! Top 10!this season and players of the quality of Lallana will be keen to join us!

Transfer news: Southampton target Dusan Tadic not risked by FC Twente in friendly .

FC Twente did not risk Southampton target Dusan Tadic in a friendly as he moves towards the exit door.
This past afternoon, Twente defeated Dutch amateur side VV Oldenzaal 14-1 in a pre-season friendly and Tadić was nowhere to be seen. When questioned on his whereabouts, Twente coach Alfred Schreuder, speaking to RTVOost.nl stated that “Everyone knows he is close to an agreement, we did not want to take a chance with him.”

The interviewer then suggested that could the Serbian be moving to Southampton and Schreuder replied: “There is a big chance that will happen”.

Could Tadic be in a Southampton Hotel tonight?
Hopefully Yes if Les & the board are moving fast enough, otherwise Tadic will be in a Liverpool hotel talking to Everton.

I also hope that Les is talking to Cardiff today for Steven Caulker because Harry knows that at £8m for an English CB & future captain QPR would be getting a bargain.

Quality actions carried out by a quality bloke and player, if he does decide to depart for pastures new (which I hope he doesn't) at least he gave the new manager a chance to convince to stay, unlike Shaw and Lallana, as for Lovren the less said on here the better, I don't want to get banned from the Echo website (again)

They all signed up with Saints to share Cortese's CL vision? No they didn't. Lallana was already at SMS. So was Shaw. So was Morgan. SRL joined an ambitious club in L1 and I doubt ever thought he would see the CL. His career has gone stratospheric and good luck to him.

Only Lovren could argue that he signed up for a plan which now seems to have been watered down. I don't blame him for feeling let down by what has happened this Summer. However, his conduct has been shameful and right now he's acting as a disgrace to his club, an embarrassment to his country and shame to his profession.

Positives a plenty in the pursuit of Pelle, Tadic, Marshall, Ings, Armero, Vlaar and others. Keep the faith.

At least Morgan has spoken with the new manager. I would hate to see Morgan go but he has been at the club for years and put in a real stint and if he feels now he wants to move on after talking with Koeman then it would be difficult to argue.

I would like to see Saints say to all remaining players that no one else will leave before January so to give it their all and see where the club is placed after Xmas.
